FEDERAL WAY, WA - Women's swimmers Claire Jansen (100 Back) and Sophie Yendell (100 Fly) were named Honorable Mention All-Americans on the third day of the Women's NCAA Championships.
They became the first pair of Pitt women's teammates since 1995 to earn H.M. All-America status in the same year.
Sophie Yendell picked up where she left off on Thursday, earning All-America status in a second event this week. She did so in impressive fashion by setting a school record to earn H.M. All-America honors on Friday night. Yendell finished in 11th place in the 100 Fly, swimming a 50.83. She bested her previous mark of 50.87 which she set at the ACC Championships in 2024.
Claire Jansen earned the first All-America honor of her career on Friday night, finishing 16th in the 100 Back. In her third trip to the NCAA Championships, the junior broke through and earned her first H.M. All-America accolade. In prelims on Friday morning, Jansen re-set her school record in the 100 Back by swimming a 51.17. Her previous mark, set at this year's ACC Championships, stood for only a month.
The Panthers finished Friday's session with yet another school record, their third of the day and fifth of the week. The 400 Medley Relay team of Claire Jansen, Jessica Strong, Sophie Yendell and Avery Kudlac swam a 3:31.57 to cap off what was another successful day in the pool.
Sydney Gring placed 28th in the 100 Fly on Friday, swimming a 52.05 in the prelims.
Freshman Kimmy Shannon competed in the 400 IM and placed 45th in prelims, swimming a 4:16.94.
