
Matteazzi Sets School Record on Second Day of Men’s NCAA Championships

Federal Way, WA – Four Panthers competed on the second day of the NCAA Men's Championships at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center on Thursday.
Fifth-year senior Max Matteazzi re-set his school record in the 200 IM on Thursday afternoon by swimming a 1:42.87. He topped his 200 IM time from the ACC Championships a month ago (1:43.34) which was the previous record. Matteazzi would place 30th in the prelims, the highest NCAA finish of his career.
Cameron Cash finished 17th on the 1-Meter (338.95) on Thursday, securing the best NCAA finish in that event of his career. He finished 18th (333.15) on the 1-Meter last year. He was one place away from earning honorable mention All-America honors.
In each of their first NCAA Championship appearances, Chase Marafioto and Noah Bernard placed 40th and 47th respectively. Marafioto scored a 277.00 and placed 40th in his first NCAA Championship event while the true freshman, Noah Bernard, placed 47th and scored a 224.00.
