Amadou Kante to Remain at Pitt

PITTSBURGH – Pitt rising redshirt sophomore Papa Amadou Kante has removed his name from the transfer portal and will continue his career as a member of the Pitt Panthers. The native of Dakar, Senegal averaged 2.1 points and 1.1 rebounds, while going 16-of-29 (.552) from the field, in 7.0 minutes per game over 22 contests last season.
In his top performance of the 2024-25 season, Amadou Kante came off the bench to ignite the Panthers in a 91-90 overtime win at Ohio State. He finished with 12 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 17:18 of action, while going 3-of-4 from the field and 6-of-9 from the foul line in the win.
Amadou Kante, ranked No. 91 (247 Sports), No. 95 (Rivals), No. 108 (ESPN) in the 2023 recruiting class, missed the entire 2023-24 season after suffering a knee injury in September of 2023.
A fan favorite for his passion and intensity, Amadou Kante rejoins a post rotation that feature incoming veteran center Dishon Jackson (8.5 ppg., 5.1 rpg., 1.1 bpg. In 18.7 mpg.), forward Cameron Corhen (11.0 ppg., 5.2 rpg. in 28.3 mpg.), and forward Amdy Ndiaye. He has also earned the Pitt Basketball Gold Standard Teammate of the Year in each of the past two seasons.
