PITTSBURGH – The Panthers travel to Morgantown, W.V. for the 192nd edition of the Backyard Brawl with a Thursday, Nov. 13 matchup against West Virginia. Pitt has won the past two meetings between the bitter rivals, including a dominating 86-62 win over the Mountaineers last season at the Petersen Events Center.
Both teams have undergone extensive roster changes this offseason with Pitt adding four transfers and three incoming freshmen to a group of four returning letterwinners - Papa Amadou Kante, Cameron Corhen, Brandin Cummings, and Amdy Ndiaye.
Pitt's transfer portal additions currently feature Barry Dunning, Jr. (South Alabama), Nojus Indrusaitis (Iowa State), Dishon Jackson (Iowa State), and Damarco Minor (Oregon State). Omari Witherspoon headlines a group of incoming freshmen that also includes a pair of international prospects.
The Panthers are expected to continue to add to the roster with multiple roster spots remaining.
West Virginia will enter the Backyard Brawl with a first-year coach for the third consecutive season as Ross Hodge has taken over the program after serving as head coach at North Texas for the past two seasons. The Mountaineers lost 10 players to the transfer portal, but have restocked with the signed of eight players out of the portal.
