Panthers tab first five-captain group since 2013
PITTSBURGH—At the Pitt Football Kickoff Luncheon, head coach Pat Narduzzi announced the five Panthers who will serve as team captains for the 2025 season: redshirt senior offensive lineman Lyndon Cooper, redshirt junior linebacker Kyle Louis, redshirt senior defensive back Javon McIntyre, sixth-year tight end Jake Overman, and senior running back Desmond Reid.
The captains were selected by a vote of their teammates. This marks Pitt's first season with five captains since 2013, when the Panthers had six. Additionally, Louis is the first non-senior to be elected a captain since Jimmy Morrissey in 2019.
"Our players don't hand out that 'C' lightly," Narduzzi said. "Leadership at Pitt is earned every day. It's how you work, how you compete, and how you lift others. Desmond, Kyle, Lyndon, Javon and Jake are blue-collar, accountable guys who have the full respect of our locker room. I'm proud of the example they set, and I'm excited for them to lead us this fall."
