
Sibande Helps Lead Aftershocks to TBT Title

PITTSBURGH – Pitt standout and 2023 ACC Sixth Man of the Year Nike Sibande continued to make his mark on the professional level with outstanding play throughout The Basketball Tournament (TBT). Sibande was electric off the bench averaging 13.5 points per game in helping the Aftershocks to a 6-0 record and the $1 million team prize.
In Sunday's title game, an 82-67 win over defending champions Eberlein Drive, Sibande totaled 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field while adding six rebounds and two assists in just 21 minutes of action. He closed the TBT with four double-figure scoring efforts, while posting .630/.526/.929 shooting splits (FG/3FG/FT). Sibande added 4.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.3 steals to earn TBT All-Tournament accolades.

SIBANDE AT PITT
Sibande averaged 8.4 points and 4.1 rebounds, while making 43 three-point field goals in his final season with the Panthers in 2022-23. He helped the team to a 24-win season that included a pair of NCAA Tournament victories and became the first Pitt player to earn ACC Sixth Man of the Year recognition after averaging 9.7 points per game in conference play. He was also the first Pitt player to earn a conference individual award since Ashton Gibbs was named Big East Most Improved Player in 2010.
The Indianapolis, Ind., native was the Panthers' first sub in all 34 games he didn't start and had 17 double-figure scoring games on the season.
Sibande totaled 1,864 points, 680 rebounds, 198 assists and 114 steals with 246 three-point field goals in 147 career games (105 starts) at Miami [Ohio] and Pitt. He scored in double figures 96 times in his career and was one of 14 active players in the NCAA during the 2022-23 season with 1,700+ points, 600+ rebounds, and 200+ threes in a career.
