PITTSBURGH — With nine games left and all their goals still in front of them, the Panthers are turning the page to ACC competition. Head coach Pat Narduzzi met with the media Monday and made it clear that if the team wants to achieve those goals, the key going forward is execution.
Reflecting on the road loss at West Virginia, Narduzzi said frustration came from missed chances rather than being outplayed. "We didn't coach well enough and did not execute well enough, and it comes down to that," he said. "We beat ourselves. We shot ourselves in the foot."
Still, Narduzzi stressed that the setback doesn't change the big picture. "You live and learn, you get stronger from it," he said. "We build off it."
The Panthers stand at 2-1 overall with their conference schedule ahead, and Narduzzi reminded his team that everything they hope to achieve remains on the table. "The ACC is ahead of us," he said. "The goal at the end of the day is to win an ACC Championship. Our guys realize that, and I think they learned a lot from last week's game."
Attention now turns to this week's matchup at Acrisure Stadium against undefeated Louisville. Narduzzi noted the Cardinals' talent on both sides of the ball but emphasized that the focus remains internal. "They're talented," he said. "Our job is not to worry about who they are. It's to worry about Pitt."
Kickoff is set for noon this Saturday, and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
