Kyle Louis Updates
Feb. 25 | Linebacker Media Availability
Kyle Louis met with media and discussed his development at Pitt, his role at STAR and how his early-morning film routine shaped his growth.
"I started getting in a little earlier and watching more film, and once I saw it made a drastic difference in practice, I started doing it every day."
Louis also reflected on his versatility within Pitt's defensive system.
"Star isn't for everybody. It's not just a linebacker spot or just a DB spot — you've really got to be in the mix of both. I feel like that position was perfectly tailored for me."
Louis confirmed informal conversations with multiple NFL clubs, including Detroit.
"The conversation went well. We were really just talking about life, and they were trying to get a feel for the type of person I am."
More Quotes of Note from Louis
"I came in with a slow start. I was getting injured a lot, and because of that I had to come in early for rehab — like 6 in the morning. Once I finally got fully healthy, I figured I might as well use that time to get in the film room."
"The more I learned the system and the more experience I gained at Pitt, it helped me grow as a player exponentially."
"Coach Narduzzi helped me with everything — not just as a football player, but as a man. He prepared me to be critiqued and helped me develop thick skin."
"I was grateful to have a captain role last year and to be able to lift up and inspire everybody next to me."
"My best instinct is coverage. I'm a film junkie, so I jump plays — I cheat a lot of plays because I can see it coming. I'm trying to be a ball player. I'm trying to get the ball by any means."
"It's (versatility) everything, because the league is changing — constantly changing, especially now. I feel like guys like me are what the league needs. It's becoming a passing league, and as a great linebacker — an every-down, three-down linebacker — I can play against 12 personnel, any heavy personnel, and still cover. That doesn't take away from my run defense. It's something I add on top of it."
What's Next?
Louis will continue today with medical evaluations and team meetings. He is scheduled to take the field tomorrow for official measurements and on-field workouts.
