ATLANTA, Ga. — Claire Jansen earned an All-America finish Friday, placing seventh in the 100-yard backstroke final at the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center.
Jansen touched the wall in 50.67 to claim seventh place, earning 12 points for Pitt and becoming a four-time All-American. The performance continued a program milestone that began just one year ago — after going 39 years without an All-American, Pitt has now produced one in back-to-back seasons, following Sophie Yendell's fifth-place finish in 2025.
The senior now holds four All-America honors across her career, including one outright All-American designation and three honorable mention selections.
Sydney Gring also turned in a standout performance in the 100 backstroke prelims, advancing from her entering seed of 32nd to finish 11th with a time of 51.08.
The quartet of Jansen, Angelina Messina, Gring and Avery Kudlac finished 18th in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:31.44. Pitt sits 20th in the team standings with 31 points through three days of competition.
