George, Ndongo Set To Represent Pitt At The 2026 ACC Tipoff

CHARLOTTE – Senior transfers Naithan George and Baye Ndongo, along with Head Coach Jeff Capel, will represent the Pitt men's basketball team at the 2026 ACC Tipoff on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

George and Ndongo are two members of an 11-person transfer class that has turned over the Pitt men's basketball roster for the 2026-27 season. Both are multi-year veterans of ACC play.

George played two seasons at Georgia Tech before transferring to Syracuse for the 2025-26 season. He has played in 95 career games, starting 94 times. George has ranked among the top six in the ACC in assist rate in each of his first three years. A year ago, he led Syracuse in assists and minutes, averaging 10.9 points, 5.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 32.1 minutes.

Five times George recorded 10 or more assists and he tied his career-high in scoring with 28 points against Pitt. Prior to that, he led the ACC in assists with 6.5 per game in 2024-25 at Georgia Tech. He was named honorable mention All-ACC while adding 12.3 points and 4.2 rebounds.

Ndongo has played in and started all 90 games he played over the past three seasons at Georgia Tech. He averaged 11.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and a career-best 2.4 assists, while shooting 55.6 percent from the field and 71.6 percent from the free-throw line a year ago.

A third-team All-ACC performer as a sophomore, Ndongo posted 13.4 points and 8.9 rebounds a game in 2024-25, while shooting 53.6 percent from the field. As a freshman, he averaged 12.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks.

Pitt returns just one scholarship player from a team that went 13-20 a year ago and advanced to the second round of the ACC Tournament. The Panthers brought in 11 transfers and two freshmen for a total of 13 newcomers.
