Strength and Conditioning

To create a high-energy, positive training environment that motivates our athletes to the highest levels of effort and concentration, allowing them to fully maximize the individually designed athletic performance program set out for them. The program is designed to cultivate camaraderie within teams and among all Pitt athletes, so that student athletes develop a sense of accountability to not only their teammates but the entire athletic department. Through our pursuit of the most scientifically sound training techniques and methods, each athlete will be set up with an individualized and sport specific program that addresses strength, power, speed, agility, balance, mental conditioning, mobility, recovery, and injury risk reduction. The Strength and Conditioning staff at the University of Pittsburgh believes a performance training model that encompasses all the aforementioned aspects of performance enhancement most aptly prepares students athletes for success in competition. Strength and Conditioning currently operates out of three primary training spaces: the Duratz Athletic Complex, Petersen Events Center and Fitzgerald Field House.
