Jack Anderson was hired as Director of Operations for Pitt baseball in December of 2023 by head coach Mike Bell.
In this role, Anderson directs the team’s day-to-day operations which includes itineraries, team travel, budget planning, coordinating community service events and a plethora of other duties. He is the primary team liaison with the compliance, equipment, marketing and media relations departments. Prior to his employment by the University of Pittsburgh, Anderson spent two years as an everyday starter for the Pitt baseball program.
Anderson played in 105 games and made 97 starts while batting .288 with 102 hits, 18 doubles, 12 home runs, 61 RBI and 84 walks during his two years with the program. His 84 free passes in his two seasons for the Panthers rank him 15th all-time in walks in Pitt history.
As a senior, Anderson played and started in all 55 of Pitt’s games in 2023. He hit .295 with six home runs, 35 RBI and 10 doubles. His 55 walks were the most in the single season by a Panther in program history at the time.
The Mars, PA native played at Northwestern and State College of Florida before he came home for his final two years of collegiate baseball. He played in 19 games and started in 11 of them as a freshman for Northwestern in 2019. During his only year at State College of Florida in 2021, Anderson hit .314 with 59 hits, 15 doubles, 46 runs, five home runs and a .495 slugging percentage.
Anderson was a three-year all-section selection at local Mars Area High School for the Fightin’ Planets. He helped them make their first WPIAL Championship appearance in school history, finishing as the WPIAL 5A Runner-Ups in 2017. He received four varsity letters while also serving as a team captain.
