2014: Played in all 13 games as a long snapper...handled both punts and PAT/field goals for the first nine games...focused solely on punt snapping in the final four contests...had two tackles on the season (one each against Iowa and Akron).
2013: Played in the final 12 games as Pitt's primary long snapper for punts, field goals and PATs...did not play in the Sept. 2 season opener vs. Florida State...had one tackle on the year (at Navy).
2012: Began the season as a reserve but ultimately played in five games as team's starting long snapper when Kevin Barthelemy was out due to injury...handled punts, field goals and PATs for five consecutive contests, beginning with Syracuse (Oct. 5) and ending with the Notre Dame game (Nov. 3).
2011: Joined team as a training camp walk-on and redshirted.
HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year starter at center for St. Francis under Coach Jerry Smith...also started on the defensive line his final two seasons...first team All-Monsignor Martin League...also participated in track and field...Honor Roll student...recipient of a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics.
PERSONAL: David Murphy, born 11/4/92, is the son of Kevin and Lynda Murphy...has two sisters who are twins...father played football at Canisius College...earned his degree in business supply chain management and is now pursuing an MBA in Pitt's Katz Graduate School of Business.
