Perhaps no player in recent Pitt history has captured the walk-on ideal quite like Doug Roseberry...joined the team in 2001 as a walk-on linebacker and played in only two games in his first three years...last year, though, Roseberry[apos]s perseverance paid off when he secured a key role for Pitt[apos]s special teams and was voted a team captain at the end of the year by his teammates...figures to play that 'kamikaze' role again in 2005 but will also provide valuable depth and knowledge in the linebacker corps...has worked at all three linebacker positions during his career and will compete in the middle his final season...'Doug is such a smart player,' linebackers coach Curtis Bray said. 'He knows each and every one of the linebacker positions. In addition to his valuable special teams role, we expect him to vie for time this year.'...2004 Big East All-Academic Team honoree.
