2010 Scouting Report: Enters his first active season following a redshirt campaign...initially joined Pitt as a dual-threat quarterback prospect but made an encouraging transition to strong safety this past offseason...displayed excellent aptitude and attitude at his new position with a knack for being around the ball.

2009: Redshirted as a true freshman.

High School: Threw for nearly 5,000 yards and rushed for more than 1,300 over his final two seasons at Cypress Falls...was a 1,000-yard passer and rusher his senior season...threw for 1,492 yards while completing 57% of his passes (122 of 214)...accounted for 22 total touchdowns (13 rushing and nine passing)...as a junior Gray threw for 3,350 yards with 32 TDs and only five interceptions...completed 59.7% of his passes as a junior (190 of 318) and rushed for 300 yards and four TDs on 75 carries (4.0 avg.)...All-District 15-5A...Touchdown Club of Houston Offensive Player of the Year finalist...5A Texas Football All-State (third team)...led team to a 9-3 record and 6-1 mark in District 15-5A play his junior year, helping Cypress Falls advance to the second round of the 5A Region III playoffs...rated the country[apos]s No. 28 dual-threat quarterback by Rivals...played under Coach David Raffield...invited to play in the Bayou Bowl (Texas vs. Louisiana all-star game) but declined so that he could enroll at Pitt for summer term...Fellowship of Christian Athletes...Principal[apos]s List.
