Chris Dountas, a highly experienced and knowledgeable sports equipment professional, enters his fourth year as the director of equipment services for Pitt football.
His 2022 appointment actually marked Dountas’ second tenure with the Panthers. He previously worked for Pitt Athletics from 2005-16.
During that time he worked with 18 of the Panthers’ 19 intercollegiate sports, including the Pitt men’s basketball program.
Dountas spent three years as an assistant athletic director and equipment manager at Stanford (2016-19), where he oversaw all equipment needs for the Cardinal’s 36 varsity programs. He then had a three-year tenure at Colorado (2019-22), where his focus was the Buffaloes’ football team.
Dountas’ additional experience includes equipment operations appointments at UCF (2004-05) and Connecticut (2005).
He is a 2003 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in science and sports management.
Dountas is a certified member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association. He serves the AEMA as its Associate Executive Director.
Dountas has two children, daughter Amber and son Mason.
