Trent Turknett enters his second year as an offensive quality control assistant with Pitt football.
Turknett joined the Panthers after spending the past three seasons (2021-23) as director of player personnel at Western Carolina.
Prior to WCU, he served as tight ends coach and director of football operations during the 2021 spring season at Tusculum University. The Pioneers won the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) spring championship behind an offense that averaged 53.5 points and 603.5 yards per game.
Turknett was the video coordinator and director of player personnel at Murray State in 2019. In overseeing the video staff, he was responsible for the Racers’ multimedia department and social media recruiting initiatives. His responsibilities as director of player personnel included serving as a liaison for student-athletes, faculty, coaches and administration.
Turknett was an offensive graduate assistant with a positional focus on the offensive line at Valdosta State during the 2017-18 seasons. The 2018 Blazers went 14-0 and claimed the NCAA Division II national championship. VSU averaged a national-best 52 points per game, breaking the NCAA Division II record for points in a season (728).
Turnkett earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management with a minor in business from the University of Florida in 2016. He earned a master’s degree in public administration from Valdosta State in 2019.
