2021: Played in 12 games, starting one (ACC Championship Game against Wake Forest)…totaled five receptions for 37 yards (7.4 avg.) on the year…had a season-high two catches for 14 yards against North Carolina…had a long reception of 10 yards at Syracuse…recipient of the prestigious Disney Spirit Award, given annually to the most inspiring figure in college football…Tipton was recognized for his commitment to mental health awareness and overcoming adversity on and off the field during his Pitt career.
2020: Played in nine games, starting two (Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech)…had 11 catches for 104 yards (9.5 avg.) on the year…posted career highs with four catches for 38 yards (9.5 avg.) against Virginia Tech.
2019: Played in the season’s initial three games…sustained a season-ending injury during practice prior to the Sept. 21 UCF contest…had seven receptions for 81 yards (11.6 avg.) and a touchdown on the year…had a season-high three catches (for 26 yards) against Virginia…had a three-yard TD catch against the Cavaliers…had a season-high 28 receiving yards (on two catches) at Penn State…highly active in community service, he was honored on the 2019 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and received the Freddie Solomon Community Spirit Award.
2018: Played in all 14 games, making two starts at receiver…starting assignments came against Albany and Duke…had five receptions for 42 yards (8.4 avg.) on the year…had a season-high 22 receiving yards on two catches (11.0 avg.) at Wake Forest…also had two catches (for 14 yards) against Albany.
2017: Did not play in any games due to an offseason injury.
2016: Played in nine games, starting one (North Carolina)…sustained a season-ending injury at Miami (Nov. 5), missing the final four contests…totaled 12 receptions for 142 yards (11.8 avg.) and a touchdown on the year…also compiled 61 yards on 11 rushes (5.5 avg.)…had a season-high three receptions for 27 yards (9.0 avg.) at Oklahoma State…had his first career touchdown catch on a 15-yard reception against Marshall…also rushed for a career-high 26 yards on three carries (8.7 avg.) against the Thundering Herd…completed an 11-yard pass (to quarterback Nathan Peterman) against Virginia Tech off a gadget play.

PERSONAL: Charles Fitzgerald Tipton, born 7/12/96, is the son of Charles Tipton Sr. and Kim Tipton…earned his bachelor's degree in communication and is now pursuing graduate studies in Pitt's School of Social Work...named a 2021 recipient of the Wilma Rudolph Student-Athlete Achievement Award annually presented by the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A)…the award honors student-athletes who have overcome great personal, academic and/or emotional odds to achieve academic success while participating in intercollegiate athletics.
