Emily Blount joined the University of Pittsburgh athletic department in August 2026 as an Assistant Director of Strategic Communications, serving as the primary contact for women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and lacrosse. She also serves as the tertiary contact for football.
Blount comes to Pittsburgh after spending one year at Mercyhurst as Director of Athletic Communications. During her time in Erie, she led the communications team as the Lakers made the transition to Division I while serving as the primary contact for six sports.
Prior to her time at Mercyhurst, Blount worked as a graduate assistant with the St. Bonaventure Athletic Communications department, serving as the primary media contact for three sports.
A native of Waterford, Pa., Blount earned her bachelor’s degree in sport business management and marketing from Mercyhurst. She later obtained her master’s in sport administration from St. Bonaventure in 2025.
