Kait McDougal joined the University of Pittsburgh in September 2024 as an Academic Counselor & Tutor Coordinator. In this role, McDougal provides academic support to the women’s lacrosse team and coordinates the delivery of STEM tutoring services, which are available to all student-athletes in a variety of subjects.
Prior to joining the Academic Support staff at Pitt, McDougal was an academic advisor in the School of Professional Studies at Columbia University (New York, NY), where she supported international graduate students.
McDougal earned her Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Penn State University in 2023. While at Penn State, McDougal served as a student-athlete mentor in the Morgan Academic Center, a graduate assistant in the Office of Student Conduct, and a part-time academic advisor in the Division of Undergraduate Studies. McDougal also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration & Management from Otterbein University (Westerville, OH).
A native of Beaver County, McDougal is excited to make her return to Western Pennsylvania.
Beyond the Bio
What is one thing you love about the city of Pittsburgh?
Growing up on the west side of Pittsburgh, I’ve been driving into the city through the Fort Pitt Tunnel for as long as I can remember. There is nothing like that moment when you exit the tunnel and see the PGH skyline. It never gets old, even when I’m in rush hour traffic!
What do you love most about working in Pitt’s athletic department?
I love seeing the support and resources that are available to our student-athletes. There is so much work that goes on behind the scenes to help student-athletes thrive at Pitt, and all our staff members demonstrate how much they care about student-athlete success by doing this work every day.
Hobbies outside of work?
You can usually find me in a group fitness class or reading a good book!
