Phil Racicot joined the University of Pittsburgh athletic department in March 2023 as the Assistant Athletic Director of Event Management. He oversees administration and management for Pitt athletic events including supervision of the events management staff as well as coordination, planning and execution of ACC and NCAA Championship events and bids.
Racicot comes to Pitt from Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire where he served as the Director of Athletics and Recreation since June 2019. While at Keene State he was directly responsible for planning, implementing, and administering a program of intercollegiate athletics and recreation consisting of 20 NCAA Division III sports and over 400 student athletes as well as 6 club sports, recreational and intramural programs for 3,300 students. Highlights from Racicot's time at Keene State include:
• Leading a series of development and enrollment initiatives including a Giving Challenge increasing all fundraising by over 20%, launching Men’s and Women’s Golf as varsity sports as well as strategic roster expansion efforts. • Initiated and managing facilities projects including new turf field and purchase of the first videoboard and LED scorers’ tables in Spaulding Gymnasium resulting 40% increase in sponsorship sales. • Negotiated a new Nike/Prime Time Sport apparel agreement for next five years representing over $100K in direct value to KSC more than tripling agreement with previous vendor. • implemented new mobile ticketing system increasing ticket revenue threefold from previous year in first 4 months and capturing valuable market data. • Established enhanced student services support programming resulting in a record number of student athletes being named to Little East Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll and LEC All-Academic Team members. • Supported coaches and student athletes in highly successful seasons winning LEC championships in Men’s Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, Women’s Swimming, and multiple conference honors. Serve as Chair of LEC AD Committee. • Hosted first two rounds of NCAA Men’s Soccer Regional Championship at Keene State College for first time in nine years and advanced to second round Men’s Basketball Tournament. • Awarded bid to host New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 3 Basketball Play-offs and Championships at Keene Sate College for first time over ten years.
Prior to arriving at Keene State Racicot was the Director of Operations for P3R/Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon from November 2017 through 2019 where he served as a key member of the senior management team for a non-profit organization promoting, producing, and executing health and fitness events throughout the Pittsburgh market. He managed all operations staff, event team members, warehouse staff, and volunteers for operations and promotional opportunities. While there he directed processes for all events, including the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, attracting 40K runners and 200K spectators, generated $10M in economic impact and over $1M annually for charities, maintained relationships with city offices, police, UPMC, sponsors, contractors, vendors, charities, and clients, including the City of Pittsburgh, Steelers, Penguins, Pirates, Airport Authority and Sports Pittsburgh, led the Elite Athlete and American Distance Athletes programs and the Steel City Road Runners Club.
At Duquesne University, an NCAA Division I institution in Pittsburgh, Pa. Racicot held several administrative positions during his tenure which includes serving as interim director of athletics from June to October in 2015. From 2006 to 2017, Racicot served as senior associate athletic director for administration. In this role, Racicot led and directly oversaw operations of intercollegiate athletics, encompassing 17 varsity sports with a budget of $18M+, 90 staff members and coaches, and 430+ student athletes, and managed administration, personnel, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, strategic planning, and project management for the entire department, as well as directing searches for numerous head coaching positions and hiring key administrators in the department. He served as the primary sport administrator for football, men's and women's basketball, and men's soccer, as well as overseeing a $7.5 million scholarship budget and Title IX and Gender Equity planning. Racicot also served on several university wide committees, including the Title IX Coordinating Committee, and the Academic Integrity Committee for Athletics. He also has extensive experience with facility renovation and management for multiple sports.
His efforts brought in $16 million in estimated economic impact for the city of Pittsburgh and $600K in honorariums payments from the NCAA to Duquesne, resulting in national media exposure for the city and university, and served as the model to develop a consortium of regional stakeholders to attract 22 NCAA Championship events to the region from 2018 to 2023. His work in student-athlete success established and led a department that was recognized numerous times for both academic success and graduation rates, and Racicot was appointed to the N4A Board of Directors, NCAA Life Skills Advisory Team, and is trained as a NCAA Leadership Facilitator. Racicot began his career at Duquesne in 1995 as an Academic Coordinator and was promoted the Assistant Director of Athletics for Student Services in 2000. In these roles, he formulated and implemented a comprehensive academic support and counseling program for 500 student-athletes and monitored academic progress for eligibility and progress toward degree for athletic eligibility certification. Prior to arriving at Duquesne, he worked at LaSalle University in Philadelphia in academic and student athlete services.
He is a graduate of Syracuse University with a degree in political science and holds a master's degree in sport administration from Temple University.
An Albany, New York native, Racicot resides in Pittsburgh with his wife Brooke, daughter Teighan and son Regan.

Phil is an avid runner who has completed numerous marathons, enjoys running in North Park and throughout the city. When not attending Pitt athletic events he also goes to Steeler, Penguins, Pirates and Riverhounds games.
