During her nearly two-decade tenure at the University of Pittsburgh, Jennifer Tuscano has served in several increasingly elevated roles.She currently serves as Pitt's Executive Associate Athletic Director for Sport Administration and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). Tuscano was named Interim Director of Athletics by Chancellor Joan Gabel in September of 2024 and led Pitt Athletics during the transition and hiring of Director of Athletics Allen Greene.
Tuscano’s impact within Pitt Athletics was recognized when she was named the department’s 2022 “Gold Standard Leader” for exemplary service and leadership.
Tuscano serves on Pitt Athletics’ executive staff and has oversight of Pitt’s Cathy and John Pelusi Family Life Skills program and academic support. She additionally leads the sport administration team, which provides direction for Pitt’s 19 intercollegiate programs.
As Senior Woman Administrator, Tuscano represents the Panthers’ Olympic sports at the Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA levels, while working to promote meaningful and diverse representation in the leadership and management of college sports. She has served on various ACC sport committees including women’s basketball, wrestling, and softball.
Tuscano was also named to the VisitPITTSBURGH Board of Directors in April 2024.
One of Pitt’s most experienced and accomplished sport administrators, Tuscano has direct oversight of the Panthers’ men’s soccer, women’s basketball, softball and wrestling programs.
Pitt has established itself as a perennial national championship contender in men’s soccer. The Panthers have advanced to four consecutive NCAA Tournaments for the first time in school history, twice reaching the College Cup.
Wrestling finished 11th nationally in 2021, the program’s highest finish since 1970. Her efforts helped bring the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship to Pittsburgh in 2019, earning her SportsPITTSBURGH’s Partner of the Year award. Tuscano served on the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship Committee from 2020-2024 and was committee chair in 2023-2024.
In women’s basketball, Tuscano was part of four NCAA teams, including consecutive Sweet 16 appearances in 2008-09. She additionally served as the team’s color analyst for radio and television broadcasts for 10 years.
From 2004-15, Tuscano worked in the office of Academic Support Service for Student-Athletes at the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to her advising duties, Tuscano also served as Assistant Director for Academic Support Services, including the role of Tutoring Coordinator. She had direct academic oversight of the Pitt football program’s freshman class and also served as the academic counselor for the women’s basketball and men’s soccer teams.
Tuscano also served as an Assistant Tournament Director when Pitt hosted the NCAA Women’s Basketball First and Second Round games in both 2007 and 2010. She was an active women’s basketball official at the Division II, Ill and junior-college levels.
Tuscano arrived at Pitt after serving as the Director of Athletics for the Meyersdale Area School District. She was responsible for all scheduling of athletics events, as well as directing and supervising after school tutoring programs for the district’s student-athletes. She also served as the head coach of the Meyersdale Area junior high girls basketball team from 1997-2003. Tuscano was also a member of the Meyersdale Athletic Boosters, the PIAA District 5 Committee and the Pennsylvania State Education Association.
Tuscano received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 1999, where she spent four years on the women’s basketball team. She was inducted into the Pitt-Johnstown Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023. From 1995-1999, Tuscano proved to be one of the most prolific scorers in Pitt-¬Johnstown history, finishing her career with 1,396 points, while helping to lead head coach Jodi Goult’s Lady Cat basketball team to a pair of NCAA Division II Regional Tournament berths.
Tuscano also earned a master’s degree in sports science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
