Women's Tennis Defeats Youngstown State, 7-2

The Pittsburgh Panther tennis team defeated Youngstown State, 7-2, at the Charles Cost Center Thursday, March 12, improving its record to 10-5 overall.
In singles play, Lindsay Carlson (Gambrills, Md./Arandel), Fran Davis (Dallas, Pa./Wyoming Seminary), Erin Shalbrack (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin), Amanda Hoffman (West Palm Beach, Fla./Forest Hill) and Alison Bucher (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) each defeated their opponents, including 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-1 victories by Hoffman and Bucher, respectively.
The Panthers won two doubles matches, including an exciting 9-8 (4-tiebreaker) win by the team of Davis and Shalbrack at the No.1 seed. The team of Hoffman and Bucher also won, 8-3, at the No.3 seed.
Pittsburgh will host their final two home matches this weekend at the Charles Cost Center. The Panthers will face St. Bonaventure Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m. and conference-foe Villanova Sunday, March 22 at noon.
