Women's Soccer Shut Out by West Virginia, 2-0

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 shutout to Big East Conference foe West Virginia on Oct. 4 at the Morton Sports Complex. The Panthers move to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in the Mid-Atlantic Division of the conference.
Mountaineer Katie Barnes scored both goals for West Virginia, netting her first at 39:38. The goal came on a header following Lisa Stoia's corner kick serve. Barnes' second goal came with less than two minutes remaining in the game when she took a pass from Rachel Kruse and scored from the top of the box at 88:08.
Panther goalkeeper Rachel Brown (Burnley, England/St. Christopher's) made seven saves while the Pittsburgh defense made two on 24 West Virginia shots. The Panthers were forced to play primarily on the defensive end of the fiels and were limited to just five shots on goal for the afternoon. They were led by redshirt freshman forward Annette Agredano (Tucson, Ariz./Tucson High Magnet) with two shots.
Pittsburgh returns to action on Friday, Oct. 6, when the Panthers play host to 16th-ranked Boston College in a Big East intra-divisional matchup at the Morton Sports Complex. Game time is 4 p.m.
