TUCSON, AZ - The Pittsburgh women's soccer team headed out west to Tucson, Ariz. on Sept. 8, earning its second win of the season over Arizona, 2-1 in overtime. The victory broke the Panthers' three-game losing streak.
Redshirt freshman Annette Agredano, a native of Tucson, appeared in her first collegiate game in front of her hometown and scored the game-winning goal just over three minutes into overtime. She took a pass from sophomore forward Leah Greenspoon (Bala Cynwyd, Pa./Lower Merion) from 10 yards out on the left side and shot it past Wildcat goalkeeper Shannon Monti at the 93:29 mark. The assist marked the first of Greenspoon's career.
Arizona took an early 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when Naomi Chu scored an unassisted goal. But sophomore midfielder Laura Marsh (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) knotted the game with her first career goal, unassisted in the 73rd minute, to force overtime.
Pittsburgh keeper Rachel Brown (Burnley, England/St. Christopher's) earned her second win of the season while recording six saves on 21 Arizona shots. The Panthers recorded 13 shots on the evening, led by freshman Emily Tipton (Fort Collins, Pa./Rocky Mountain) with five.
Pittsburgh moves to 2-3 overall. The Panthers will visit 18th-ranked Arizona State on Sunday, Sept. 10.
