PITTSBURGH-The Panthers' women's soccer team allowed three second-half goals and fell to Fairfield, 3-0, for their second consecutive shutout loss.
Pittsburgh controlled the match for the most part, outshooting the Stags, 23-9, and forced Fairfield goalkeeper Dana Comuniello to make 13 saves.
The game was scoreless for almost 48 minutes until Julie Ann Forman tallied on a breakaway goal into the top right corner of the net. Just 2:52 later, Fairfield scored again when Meghan King, who assisted on Forman's goal, lifted a ball over Rachel Brown (Burnley, England/St. Christopher's/Alabama) on an assist from Forman.
With just under two minutes remaining in the game, the Stags got their third goal by Danielle Della Corna. Brown had four saves in the loss and forward Annette Agredano (Tucson, Ariz./Tucson High Magnet) led the Panthers with six shots. Junior forward Jacqueline Fix (Center, Pa./Center) added four shots in the loss.
Pittsburgh also had a season-high 12 corner kicks in the defeat. The Panthers will close out their season with home games against Robert Morris and Penn State on Oct. 26 and Oct. 28, respectively. Both games are at Founders Field in Indianola, Pa. and the game times are 7:30 against Robert Morris and noon versus Penn State.
