Carley Piagentini scored two goals and Katie Herr added a goal and assist as Seton Hall claimed a 3-1 women?s soccer victory over Pittsburgh Sunday. Pitsburgh drops to 3-10 overall and 0-5-0 in the Big East while Seton Hall improves to 5-7-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the Big East.
Piagentini opened the scoring just three minutes into the math when she took a pass from Nattalie Smith and converted from 10 yards out at the 3:30 mark.
Pittsburgh tied the score at 1-1 before halftime when Jacqueline Fix took a free kick outside the box and Lauren Sciocchetti headed it in at 24:39.
Piagentini scored the game winner for Seton Hall when she picked up a loose ball near the end line, curled back toward the goal and put the ball into the far side of the net at the 52:25 mark. Herr added an insurance goal at 77:47 when she broke down the left side and beat Panther goalkeeper Jamie Pelusi one-on-one.
Pittsburgh is next in action October 11 at Providence.
