Women's Tennis Competes at Eastern College Tournament

WEST POINT, N.Y. ? The Pittsburgh tennis team competed at the Women?s Fall Eastern College Tournament this past weekend hosted by the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. The event included competition at four singles and two doubles levels as all student-athletes were guaranteed at least two matches with a championship and consolation bracket.
Hayley Hughes provided Pittsburgh?s highlight as she advanced to the consolation final at No. 3 singles. After she dropped her first match in three sets to Quinnipiac?s Danielle Rautenberg, Hughes earned two decisive victories over Providence?s Molly Gilbride (6-1, 6-0) and Rhode Island?s Jess Collins (6-0, 6-1) to advance to the consolation final. Hughes lost a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 decision to Bucknell?s Tanya Sichko in the final.
