Women's Tennis Competes in Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. ? Pittsburgh?s women?s tennis team competed in the Bucknell Invitational on Sept. 20-21 against players from Georgetown, Duquesne, Villanova, Loyola (MD), Bucknell, Bloomsburg and Marist.
Pittsburgh?s two flight ?A? singles players, Becky Emmers (Wilson, N.C./Providence) and Annie Davies (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg), were both defeated in the first round. Davies continued to the back draw finals, where she was defeated by Marist?s Yana Tikhonko and finished 1-2.
In the flight ?B? singles, Hayley Hughes (Waynesburg, Pa./Canevin Catholic) and Emily Hughes (Waynesburg, Pa./Canevin Catholic) each went 1-1. In flight ?C? Konita Jude (Milwaukee, Wis./Rufus King) was defeated in the first round.
Pittsburgh also had two teams competing in the doubles competition. In flight ?A?, the team of Hayley Hughes and Davies went 1-1 in competition, as did the team of Emmers and Emily Hughes in the Flight ?B? doubles.
