STORRS, Conn.- The University of Pittsburgh?s women's soccer team fell to Connecticut by a score 1-0 Friday night. The loss is Pitt?s first loss in three games. The Panthers are now 6-8-1 overall, 2-5-1 in conference games.
The first half was scoreless for both teams. Pittsburgh did not have any corner kicks and only took one shot in the first half, compared to the Huskies 10 shots and 2 corner kicks.
Eleven minutes into the second half UConn?s Kristen Graczyk scored the only goal of the game for either team. Graczyk?s goal came unassisted. The Huskies were able to get six shots of in the second half and earn three corner kicks; while the Panthers came away with one shot and no corner kicks in the second half.
Pittsburgh?s goal keeper Jamie Pelusi made ten saves in the match.
The Panthers face off against Villanova at 1p.m. in a Big East Conference match at Founder?s Field. The game is senior player day and the four Pitt seniors will be recognized before play begins.
