Women's Tennis Head Coach Honored

PITTSBURGH-Head women's tennis coach, George Dieffenbach will be honored this weekend, as he is inducted into the West Branch Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday, Nov. 6.
"I feel honored to have been selected by the West Branch Valley Chapter to be inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame," said Dieffenbach. "I feel very blessed by God to have been raised in Williamsport and to be able to begin my athletic career there. I owe a lot to my family, who has given me the opportunity to compete and coach during my career."
An annual event, the dinner will take place at the Scottish Rite Auditorium in Williamsport, Pa. Dieffenbach will be one of 13 members recognized for his accomplishments in tennis, coaching and running and will join an elite group that is well over 100 members strong.
Dieffenbach is in his 31st season at Pitt and holds a 244-209 overall record. This fall the women's tennis team competed in five tournaments, including the I.T.A. Regional Championships. Pitt earned four titles during this time and will resume play at home against Cincinnati on Feb. 4.
