Panthers Head to State College

The University of Pittsburgh track and field teams will compete in the Penn State Challenge Cup this weekend, Feb. 11-12.

PITTSBURGH ? The University of Pittsburgh?s men?s and women?s track and field teams are gearing up for their third straight away meet this weekend, Feb.11-12. The team will travel to State College to compete in the Penn State Challenge Cup.

Many individual athletes will battle for top Big East seedings. For the men, senior co-captains Jeryl Wilborn (middle distance) and Matt Brousse (pole-vault), sophomores Justin Clickett (weight throw/shot-put) and Tim Konoval (middles distance) and freshmen Sam Bair and Keith Higham are expected to lead the Panthers.

For the women?s team, strong performances are expected from senior captain Maureen McCandless (distance) and seniors Tamara McGill (multi) and Amanda Walker (weight throw/shot-put), juniors Julianna Reed (hurdles/sprints) and Lamoy Stephens (sprints/jumps) and freshmen Shantea Calhoun (sprints) and Shanea Calhoun (sprints).

This is the last indoor season meet before the Big East Championships. Both teams are performing well and are expecting top-place finishes.
