Track and Field Dominates Fred Hardy Invitational

PITTSBURGH ? The University of Pittsburgh?s men?s and women?s track and field teams dominated this past weekend at the first annual Fred Hardy Invitational held in Richmond, Va. The women?s team produced 10 first-place finishes while the men earned seven.
Collecting double-wins for the women was senior Amanda Walker and freshman Shanea Calhoun.
On the track, earning first-place honors for the women include sophomore Suzy Bossart (10,000 meters), senior Tamara McGill (100-meter hurdles) and junior Nicola Angstadt (3,000-meter steeplechase). On the field, senior Lamoy Stephens (long jump) and freshman Angela Hoover (javelin) captured first-place finishes for the Panthers. In addition, the 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relay teams both placed first.
The men?s team had four first-place finishes on the track. Freshman Sam Bair (1,500 meters), freshman Mike Wray (110-meter hurdles), sophomore Andy Tomaswick (10,000 meters) and sophomore Mike Long (3,000-meter steeplechase) each finished first for the Panthers. On the field, sophomore Justin Clickett placed first in shot put throwing 16.87 meters and sophomore Corey Kuehner placed first in javelin with a throw of 62.77 meters. Also receiving first-place honors was the 4x400 meter relay team, clocking in at 3:16.2.
