Swimming Alum Earns Post-Graduate Scholarship

PITTSBURGH - The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Committee has just announced that former Pitt swimming standout Scott Van Epps has been named a recipient of a $7500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.
Van Epps, originally from Ft. Thomas, Ky., was a 2001 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with degrees in chemical engineering and molecular biology. While at Pitt he was a multi-Big East All-Conference honoree as well as a Big East Academic All-Star. Scott was also the conference champion in the 100 breaststroke and runner-up in the 200 breaststroke during his freshman year.
Van Epps is married to the former Jamie Tomazich, an All-American diver and school record-holder at Pitt. He is currently enrolled at Pitt pursuing a medical doctorate and a PhD in bioengineering.
