PITTSBURGH - Pitt senior guard Karlyle Lim has been named as a candidate for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award as one of the top 30 female college basketball players, who exemplifies a total student-athlete.
The CLASS Award focuses on the "Four Cs" which are classroom, character, community and competition. The winner of the award will be presented during the women's NCAA Final Four in Tampa, Fla.
Lim (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill), who is set for a spring 2008 graduation, was head coach Agnus Berenato's first recruit and has helped lead the team from a 6-20 year Berenato's first season, to a school-record 24-9 last year. The biological sciences major has been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll every year to date and holds a 3.56 grade point average.
In addition to her academic and athletic achievements, Lim is active in the community. She recently participated with the Pitt women's basketball team and former Steelers' head coach Bill Cowher, along with his wife Kaye, and six current Steelers, in a joint initiative with Family Resources, holding a clinic for at-risk children.
