PITTSBURGH - The Pitt women's basketball team returns to the Petersen Events Center Wednesday, Dec. 5, for a 7 p.m. contest with Ohio. The game marks the Panthers' first regular-season home game of the season.
Pitt is off to a 5-2 start on the season and is coming off a tournament title at the Fifth Third Classic at Marshall University. Senior Marcedes Walker (Philadelphia, Pa./University City) was named MVP and junior guard Shavonte Zellous (Orlando, Fla./Jones) was awarded all-tournament team honors.
Zellous was also named the Big East Player of the Week as she averaged 20.7 points per game during the week, spanning three games.
Pitt and Ohio (3-3) have met seven times in series history, with the Panthers capturing a win in every meeting. Last season, Pitt defeated the Bobcats 77-69 in Athens. The home game will end Pitt's seven game road trip, which was the longest span of away games before a season-opener.
Live action can be heard on FOX Radio 970 AM with Greg Linnelli and Mike Clark calling the game, or as a part of Panthers All-Access at www.pittsburghpanthers.com. For ticket information, contact the Panthers Ticket Office at 1-800-643-PITT or online at www.pittsburghpanthers.com.
