Women's Tennis Faces Two Conference Opponents On The Road

PITTSBURGH--The Panthers look to remain unbeaten in the Big East as they travel to Morgantown, W.Va. this weekend for two conference matchups. First Pitt plays host West Virginia on Friday, March 16, at 3 p.m. before a 1 p.m. contest against Seton Hall on Saturday, March 17.

Pitt (4-1) dropped its first match of the season on the road in a nail-biting 4-3 contest last week and enter this week's contests with an 1-0 conference mark.

Senior Annie Davies (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) is one of only three Panthers to record wins in their only loss. With the victory she is now fourth on the all-time wins list with 115 career wins and needs just two more wins to move into third place. Davies is also third with 57 career doubles wins and tied for sixth with 58 singles victories.

The Mountaineers (7-5) are coming off a loss to Brown, where they were lead by Kelly Walsh and Monica Lyskawa in a No. 2 doubles come-back win.

Last year junior Carlie Smith (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) posted the lone point for Pitt in their 6-1 loss to West Virginia. The Mountaineers are undefeated in the series against the Panthers.

Coming off a 4-3 victory over Fordham, the Pirates (4-1) earned a point when Danielle Viola won in her first match of the season.

The Panthers dropped a match to Seton Hall during the Big East Championships last season. During that contest, sophomore Kristy Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) and Davies earned individual singles wins. Pitt is 1-4 in the last five completed matches against the Pirates.
