Women's Soccer Announces 2007 Schedule

PITTSBURGH--Eleven home games highlight the University of Pittsburgh's 2007 women's soccer schedule announced Friday by Head Coach Sue-Moy Chin.

"I am extremely excited about our 2007 schedule," Chin said. "We have a nice blend of out-of-conference and out-of-region opponents and I'm looking forward to the different challenges that they will all bring."

Big East games will include home dates against West Virginia (Sept. 21), Syracuse (Sept. 28), Cincinnati (Oct. 5), Louisville (Oct. 7), Marquette (Oct. 26) and South Florida (Oct. 28). Big East road opponents include St. John's (Sept. 30), Connecticut (Oct. 12), Providence (Oct. 14), Villanova (Oct. 19) and Georgetown (Oct. 21).

Pitt will also play seven non-conference opponents including its season opener against Youngstown State (Aug. 31), Niagara (Sept. 2), Xavier (Sept. 14), at Kent State (Sept. 16) and Ohio (Sept. 23). The Panthers will play a two-game non-conference road swing in Georgia and Alabama, playing the likes of Georgia State (Sept. 7) and Auburn (Sept. 9).

Pitt returns 22 letterwinners to a team that advanced to the Big East Tournament for a second consecutive season. The 2006 Panthers tied a school record for most victories with an 8-8-3 overall record, its best record since it finished 8-11-0 overall in 1998. Chin, who enters her fifth season at Pitt, has guided the Panthers to more postseason appearances than any other coach in school history.
