PITTSBURGH - Senior distance runner Tim Konoval is now ranked among the top middle distance runners in the country. Konoval's second-place finish in the 1,500 meters at the Sea Ray Relay's puts him 13th in the NCAA.
This outdoor season, Konoval (Parry Sound, Ontario/Central Connecticut State) has competed in several distance events, but he has proven that his strongest event is the 1,500 meters. At the Texas Relays, he placed fourth among some of the nation's top runners. He recorded a Big East-qualifying time and IC4A-qualifying time of 3:50.50. When the Panthers traveled to Knoxville, Tenn., last weekend for the Sea Ray Relays, Konoval recorded his personal-best time of 3:44.24. This regional-qualifying time landed him in second place at the competition and 13th in the nation. He was one of three Panthers to qualify for regionals last season in this event.
