MEN'S TEAM SENDING THREE TO REGIONAL MEET

PITTSBURGH - The Pitt men's track and field team has qualified three individuals for the NCAA East Regional Championships. This year's meet will be held from May 26-27 in Gainesville, Fla.
In the 1,500 meters, Sam Bair (Pittsburgh, Pa/Kent State) and Tim Konoval (Parry Sound, Ontario/Central Connecticut St.) will represent the Panthers. Bair broke the school record in this event, running a time of 3:42.36 at the IUP Open. He is fourth in the regional standings. Konoval ran a season-best 3:44.24 at the Sea Ray Relays and is 10th in the region. He's had three regional-qualifying times, and Bair has had two.
The team's other qualifier is sophomore Eric Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa/Gateway) in the triple jump. He hit a personal-best mark of 15.03 meters at the Big East Championships. Jones has had qualifying distances twice this season and is 29th in the regional standings.
