Women's Tennis Complete Day Two In N.C.

RALIEGH, N.C.--The University of Pittsburgh women's tennis team completed their second day of the North Carolina State Wolfpack Inviational, held at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
In Flight B singles, freshman Elizabeth Adams (Reading, Pa./Wilson) advanced to the finals with a semifinal win over Natalia Prinz of West Virginia, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. In another Flight B match, junior Christie D'achille (Gibsonia, Pa./North Allegheny) dropped her match to West Virginia's Sabrina Smyers in a tie breaker (5-7, 7-5, 7-5).
Junior Carlie Smith (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), dropped her afternoon match to Laren Isenhour of UNCW in two sets (6-3, 6-2) in Flight C. Later, Stephanie Scheinoff defeated Martyna Hanusz and faces Fabiana Gouveia in the consolation final.
Seeded second in Flight D, Shannon Benic (Fox Chapel, Pa./Fox Chapel) advanced to the consolation finals with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Marian Blancada.
Junior Kristy Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) and sophomore Sabrina Visram (Orlando, Fla./Lake highland Prep) teamed together in Flight A doubles, but took a 9-8 (6) loss to JMU's duo. Later USCU's pair defeated the team of Adams and D'Achille.
Pitt resumes action in day three of the North Carolina Wolfpack Invitational on Sunday at 9 a.m.
