PITTSBURGH -
The Pitt women’s basketball team will host in-state rival Penn State in a Monday night showdown at the Petersen Events Center at 7 p.m. as a part of Hometown vs. Hunger.
Pitt is teaming up with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and UPMC Health Plan for the Hometown vs. Hunger initiative. Fans bringing a non-perishable food item to the game will be able to purchase a game ticket for just $1. Those who have already purchased season tickets will be given a coupon for 20 percent off at the Panthers Team Store on the day of the game.
Fans should also come early to the game as the Panthers are going to unveil their Sweet 16 banner from last season, and will honor the 1983-84 team for the 25th anniversary of their regular season Big East title. Festivities are set to begin at approximately 6:50 p.m.
The Panthers now sit at 1-1 on the year and will play their first home game of the season against the Lady Lions. The game will also be the first road trip for Penn State, as they sit at 3-0 on the year.
Pitt vs. Penn State can be heard live on www.pittsburghpanthers.com as a part of All Access with Greg Linnelli and Mike Clark with the call. The game will also be broadcast on a taped delay on FOX Sports Radio 970 AM at approximately 9 p.m.
