PITTSBURGH - The 24th-ranked Pitt women's basketball team will host No. 8 Maryland Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center in the Panthers' second top 25 matchup of the young season.
Pitt (5-1) and Maryland (7-1) both lost its season-openers and have rebounded for five and seven-game win streaks respectively. The Panthers are looking for a win over the highest-ranked opponent in school history. Last season, Pitt defeated No. 9 Notre Dame for the team's first win over a top 10 squad.
The Panthers are also looking for their first victory over the Terrapins as the all-time series history, which dates back to 1976, sits at 7-0 in favor of Maryland. The series is deceptive, however, as the teams have played just once since 1982 - a 90-77 Maryland win in College Park last season.
The game will be streamed live on www.pittsburghpanthers.com free as a part of Panthers All-Access. The radio broadcast will also be offered live on Pitt's official site with Greg Linnelli and Jen Tuscano on the call. FOX Sports 970 AM will carry the game on a taped delay at approximately 9 p.m.
