PITTSBURGH--Pitt's women's tennis team resumes action this weekend as it hosts George Mason on Saturday, Feb. 23, and conference foe West Virginia on Sunday, Feb. 24. Both matches are set for 5 p.m., at Club 4 Life in Monroeville.
Senior Carlie Smith (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and junior Kristy Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) continue impressive play for the Panthers (1-3, 1-1 Big East) with each player recording their 115th career victory against Cincinnati last weekend.
In doubles competition, the team of Borza and freshman Elizabeth Adams (Reading, Pa./Wilson) hold a 3-1 record after defeating the Bearcats' No. 1 duo, 8-5.
This weekend marks the Panthers' first meeting with the Patriots (2-3) who are coming off a loss to No. 9 Mary Washington.
However, Pitt dropped its contest to West Virginia (4-1), 4-3, last year. Sophomore Sabrina Visram (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland Prep) defeated her opponent in midst of a 6-0 start to her freshman season.
