PITTSBURGH--The Pitt women's tennis team travels to Youngstown State, for a mid-week, non-conference matchup. The Panthers face the Penguins on Wednesday, March 19, at noon, at the Boardman Tennis Center.
The Panthers (3-6) look to break a three-match skid, including two dropped matches over spring break.
Junior Kristy Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area), who earned her 123rd career victory against San Diego, looks to become second on the all-time wins list. Borza is one win shy of tying for second place, and four victories away from breaking the current school record, 126.
Seeking her 100th career victory, senior Leah Friedman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) needs just one more win to become the 11th member of the 100-Victory Club.
Friedman will join Borza and senior Carlie Smith (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) as current members of the squad with at least 100 wins. Smith is currently fifth all-time with 118 victories.
The Penguins (3-13) are coming off a shutout loss to Buffalo. In the Pitt-YSU series, the Panthers lead 27-7, including a 6-1 victory last season.
