Liz Tabor Earns Pitt Performer of the Meet

OLEAN, N.Y.—Freshman Liz Tabor was named the Pitt Performer of the Meet, as the University of Pittsburgh women’s swimming and diving team won all 16 events and defeated St. Bonaventure, 254-44, this afternoon. The Panthers improved to 1-0 on the season.
Tabor won the first individual event for the women, touching the 1,000 free wall at 10:27.65.
Winning the first event of the day, the 200 medley relay team was made up of senior Ryann Kishbaugh, junior Laura Barnes and sophomores Tamara Lelli and Kristen McMullan.
A multi-event winner, freshman Joanna Budzis won the 200 free (1:54.33) and 200 IM (2:10.07), while Kishbaugh was victorious in the 100 back (58.57) and 200 back (2:04.78). Additionally, senior Margo Ekstrom won both diving events, taking the 1M with 246.97 points and the 3M with 261.45.
Other first-place finishes included, freshman Yolandi Van Der Merwe (100 breast-1:07.47), junior Cookie McIntyre (200 fly-2:07.30), senior Lisa McDonnell (100 free-53.55), Barnes (200 breast-2:26.91), freshman Tori Alland (500 free-5:09.81) and Lelli (100 fly-58.00).
In the final event of the meet, McDonnell, McMullan, sophomore Elena Spak and junior Emily DeStefano ended the day with a first-place finish in the 400 free relay.
Spak also won the 50 free (24.50).
Next, the Panthers will host Louisville on Friday, Nov. 7, at 4 p.m.
