INDIANOLA, Pa. — University of Pittsburgh men’s soccer team dropped its fifth straight Big East Confererence game here at Founders Field today, falling 3-0 to the visiting Providence Friars.
Providence (5-3-1, 2-2-1 Big East) went up 1-0 four minutes into the game when Andrew Sousa found the back of the net from 10 yards outside the box.
The Friars increased their lead to 2-0 10 minutes later when Daniel Fabian headed a Matt Marcan pass just outside the box over a leaping Keegan Gunderson (Circle Pine.Minn/Shattuck-St. Mary’s).
Both team’s offenses struggled early on in the second half until late in the game when Fabian notched his second goal of the day putting the game out of reach for the Panthers (1-9-0, 0-5-0 Big East) in the 81st minute. The assist came from Sean Bakhtiari crossing pass from the left side.
The Panther’s will be in action next on Tuesday Oct. 6th as they host arch rival West Virginia University at Founders Field. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
