PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women's basketball team is set to host its annual Thanksgiving Tournament starting tomorrow, Nov. 27.
In the first of two games on the day, the No. 24/20 Panthers will take on the Appalachian State Mountaineers at 1 p.m. inside the Petersen Events Center. Marshall and Miami (OH) will meet in the second game which is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
Day two will kick off at 4 p.m. with the consolation game, followed by the championship game at 6 p.m.
The Panthers look for a repeat of last year where they went 2-0 en route to the tournament title, winning by an average margin of 46 points. All-American Shavonte Zellous earned tournament MVP honors while Xenia Stewart and Pepper Wilson were also named to the all-tournament team. Pitt defeated Elon 84-49 in the opening game and went on to down Youngstown State, 99-42, in the championship contest.
