Quoting Pitt Head Coach Agnus Berenato
Opening Statement:
"I'm just glad we got this win. This was a big day for us not only for the cause of today's game, but this game marks the fourth consecutive season this program was able to reach 20 wins. I thought we came out on our heels today. We started off slow and that's credit to Cincinnati's defense. In the second half, we really picked it up. Kate Popovec kept it even for us and Chelsea Cole did awesome. In the second half, she was rebounding, she was stealing the ball, and she was consistent. She made five consecutive plays for us and that helped us really break away."
On the second half:
"We came out in the second half and we really attacked the basket. We weren't in transition in the first half and we really did a better job of that in the second half. It was our offense. We were shooting 25 percent in the first half, and we're a team that averages 76 points a game. In the second half, we shot 48 percent. We just picked it up. We weren't making the shots early on and that's something we have to do, especially if we're playing at home."
On Pitt's offensive rebounding:
"In the first half we had 11 offensive rebounds and we weren't getting any second chance points. That hurts. I told them during halftime just to crash the boards. If we're able to do that, our shooter can take their shots and feel more confident that someone is going to grab it for us."
Quoting Pitt forward Sophronia Sallard:
On Pink the Petersen:
"With the passing of my mother, due to breast cancer, I learned how to separate my emotions. I've really matured. It's hard, but I learned to go out there and play and remember the words of my mother. I remember the summer before I came to Pitt, I was just sitting around telling her how I was going to play and she told me `You better do something. Go out and play.' I support this cause. I'll deal with my emotions after and lucky for me, I have my teammates and my coaches. They are my family."
Quoting Cincinnati Coach J. Kelley Hall
Opening Statement:
"This was definitely a game of two halves. For the first half we did what we needed to do to stay in it; for the second we didn't. In order to win, you can't let them get 18 offensive rebounds a game. I have to give them a lot of credit for their rebounding. That will give them a chance to win a lot of games down the stretch. Even though we did a good job forcing (Shavonte) out, we knew if we extended ourselves too far they would go down low."
