FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.-Sophomore Elizabeth Adams and senior Kristy Borza recorded another win in doubles to remain perfect this season, despite a 6-3 loss for the University of Pittsburgh women's tennis team to No. 11 Nova Southeastern, on Tuesday, at the NSU Courts at Broward Community College. The Panthers fall to 8-2 on the year.
Adams and Borza remained undefeated in doubles action with an 8-6 win over the strong No. 1 doubles pair of NSU. The Panthers outlasted their opponents to earn their 10th consecutive victory, this spring.
Pitt took a 2-1 lead in the match as the No. 3 single duo of sophomore Adela Aprodu and junior Shannon Benic earned an 8-4 win.
After Pitt lost a point in singles, junior Shannon Benic gave Pitt a 3-2 lead with a win in No. 6 singles over Monica Vieth. She held off a surge from Vieth in the first set, winning 6-0 before taking the second set 6-1.
Unable to stretch the lead, Pitt would then lose the next four matches, including three that went into an extra set. The Sharks improved to 7-3 on the year.
